Olivia, a talented young singer from an impoverished community in Trinidad, lives under the strict rules of her deeply religious mother. She is forbidden from pursuing soca music, a genre her mother condemns as sinful. When Olivia reconnects with an old friend who believes in her gift, she decides to pursue her dream. As she struggles to balance faith, family and her desire to escape poverty, Olivia discovers that her greatest battle is not with her mother but with the courage to believe in herself.
