SUNDAYS
[LOS DOMINGOS]
Ainara (Blanca Soroa), a brilliant and idealistic 17-year-old, stands at a crossroads. On the cusp of graduating from her Catholic high school, she feels called by a higher power and is considering becoming a cloistered nun. While her friends are more interested in partying and hooking up, Ainara remains steadfast in her decision, much to the shock of her overwhelmed father (Miguel Garcés) and her devoted aunt (Patricia López Arnaiz), a surrogate mother figure and staunch feminist. Ainara’s dedication and faith force a crisis in her family as they desperately look inward, struggling to accept her choices until they can start to mend their own troubled pasts. Alauda Ruiz de Azúa’s (LULLABY) sharply tuned family drama is the most celebrated Spanish film of the past year; it won the Golden Shell at the 2025 San Sebastián Film Festival and was nominated for 13 2026 Goya Awards, winning five, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Lead Actress (López Arnaiz).
