Upon its 1984 premiere at the height of global nuclear tension, THREADS shocked the entirety of the BBC’s viewership. Months later, when it aired in the U.S., it was quickly hailed as the British answer to ABC’s infamous 1983 TV movie THE DAY AFTER.
