Early Announcements
The complete lineup and schedule will be announced November 11.
Highlights from this year’s slate of 20 early announcements include new works from acclaimed European filmmakers such as Sylvain Chomet (A MAGNIFICENT LIFE), Fatih Akin (AMRUM), Gianfranco Rosi (BELOW THE CLOUDS), Radu Jude (KONTINENTAL ’25), Christian Petzold (MIROIRS NO. 3), Carla Simón (ROMERÍA), François Ozon (THE STRANGER) and Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne (YOUNG MOTHERS). Additional highlights include MAGELLAN, Lav Diaz’s gorgeously mounted anticolonial biopic, starring Gael García Bernal as infamous Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan; Cannes Jury Prize winner SOUND OF FALLING, Germany’s submission to the 2026 Oscars®, a hypnotic, time-traversing portrait of four generations of women living in the same isolated farmhouse over the course of a century; and ORPHAN, Academy Award®-winning Hungarian filmmaker László Nemes’ (SON OF SAUL) trenchant exploration of Hungary’s 20th century history — this time set in 1957, just one year after the USSR brutally suppressed the Hungarian Uprising; alongside Best International Feature Film Oscar® submissions from Croatia (FIUME O MORTE!) and Sweden (EAGLES OF THE REPUBLIC), among others.
