CHRISTOPHER BEAN aka HER SWEETHEART in 35mm
Special Features: Introduction by film historian David Pierce
A rare opportunity to see this long-unseen rollicking classic comedy, that has never been reissued, shown on television or released on disc. Art dealers interested in the paintings of the deceased artist Christopher Bean descend on the home of a rural doctor (Lionel Barrymore) to find that the one surviving painting is with the maid (Marie Dressler). The sudden interest unleashes greed and exposes the family's long-hidden secrets. Comedienne Marie Dressler was named the film industry's top money-making star for 1932 and 1933 in an industry poll; this film was her final screen appearance, as she died the following year. DIR Sam Wood; SCR Laurence E. Johnson, Sylvia Thalberg, from plays by René Fauchois and Sidney Howard. PROD Harry Rapf. 1933, U.S., b&w, 75 min. NOT RATED
