Divorced inventor Larry (Ben Stiller) takes the night guard shift at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, expecting a quiet, no-nonsense gig that can help provide a stable life for his son. Little does he know that after hours the exhibits across the expansive museum come to life and cause quite the ruckus. Eager to keep his new job, Larry vows to keep the building and the exhibits under control until the sun rises.
