ALICE IN WONDERLAND (1951)

Special Features: 75th Anniversary | 4K Restoration

“Curioser and curioser.” A listless young girl, Alice, follows a waistcoat-clad White Rabbit down a hole into a fantastical world filled with talking playing cards, a Cheshire Cat sporting a wicked smile, a Mad Hatter and March Hare, a hookah-smoking Caterpillar and much more in Walt Disney’s animated adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s masterpiece of literary nonsense. Former silent-film star Mary Pickford pitched Walt Disney on a live action/animated hybrid adaptation that she would star in, but Disney was hesitant to do so — though a live-action version was eventually filmed as a reference for this animated film. DIR Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske; SCR from the novels “The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass” by Lewis Carroll. U.S., 1951, color, 75 min.
