BATTLING BUTLER

BATTLING BUTLER

Special Features: 100th Anniversary | 4K Restoration | Live musical accompaniment by Andrew Earle Simpson

At the behest of his father, effete millionaire Alfred Butler (Buster Keaton) embarks on a hunting trip to toughen up — with valet (Snitz Edwards) in tow. When Butler falls in love with a sweet mountain girl (Sally O’Neil), his valet claims that Butler is actually world heavyweight champion Alfred “Battling” Butler in order to impress the working-class lass’ family. Butler and his valet maintain the ruse and win the girl…until the real Battling Butler (Francis McDonald) appears and demands a grudge match in the ring. Adapted from a popular stage musical, BATTLING BUTLER was, by his own admission, Keaton’s favorite of his films, and a prime example of his athleticism. DIR/PROD Buster Keaton; SCR Al Boasberg, Lex Neal, Charles H. Smith, Paul Gerard Smith, from the play by Stanley Brightman, Austin Melford, Douglas Furber and Philip Braham; PROD Joseph M. Schenck.
