THE RING (2002) Watch Trailer

THE RING (2002)

In a film renowned for its bleak atmosphere and palpable tension, the strange death of a teenage girl leads journalist Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) to investigate an urban legend about a cursed VHS tape, which causes the untimely deaths of its viewers seven days after watching it. She enlists the help of her ex-husband, video analyst Noah (Martin Henderson), as they unfold the eerie, supernatural mystery of the tape and try to protect their son, Aiden (David Dorfman), who has his own mysterious abilities, from the effects of the tape. At just 12 years old, Daveigh Chase gave a complex and haunting performance as Samara Morgan, the ghostly girl at the center of the mystery. One of the most iconic horror movies of the 21st century, THE RING — a remake of Japanese filmmaker Hideo Nakata’s 1998 J-horror classic RING — ushered in a wave of American remakes of other Japanese horror films. DIR Gore Verbinski; SCR Ehren Kruger, from the 1998 film RING, screenplay by Hiroshi Takahashi, and the novel by Koji Suzuki; PROD Walter F. Parkes, Laurie MacDonald. U.S., 2002, color, 115 min.
