Join us for a double feature inspired by the new season of the hit podcast YOU MUST REMEMBER THIS, which launches on September 15!

The latest season of Karina Longworth’s award-winning podcast is called “The Bisexuals,” and traces the life of torch singer — and accused murderess — Libby Holman and her sexually-fluid group of friends and lovers from the 1920s to the end of the 1960s, which included Montgomery Clift, Tallulah Bankhead, Josephine Baker, Nicholas Ray and many more.

Longworth will introduce two films starring enigmatic four-time Academy Award® nominee Montgomery Clift, made at the height of his fame in the 1950s. Longworth will appear in conversation with film historian Foster Hirsch following the screening of I CONFESS. This will be followed by a 15-minute intermission prior to the presentation of LONELYHEARTS.

I CONFESS (1953)
In Alfred Hitchcock’s noir-adjacent religious thriller, Montgomery Clift stars as Father Michael William Logan, a Quebec City priest with a dilemma: He has heard the confession of a murderer, but, as a priest, he is unable to betray the confidence of the confessor to assist local police detective Inspector Larrue (Karl Malden). Father Logan is also ill-equipped to adequately defend himself after Larrue’s investigation identifies a man dressed as a priest as the suspect. When Father Logan’s pre-ordination affair with a former flame (Anne Baxter) is revealed, the combination of circumstantial evidence and the priest’s guilty secrets threatens to doom him at trial.
