PETE KELLY'S BLUES (1955)

Special Features: Intro by film historian Foster Hirsch on Oct. 18

Prohibition-era bandleader Pete Kelly (Jack Webb) refuses to bend the knee to a local bootlegger. Webb maintains the same iron-clad will that made him a star on DRAGNET, but PETE KELLY'S BLUES, which he also directed, ventures further into the darkness than the procedural franchise ever could. Janet Leigh stars as flapper Ivy Conrad who complicates Pete’s life, while vocal powerhouses Peggy Lee and Ella Fitzgerald provide supporting talent. Lee scored a 1956 Best Supporting Actress Oscar® nomination for her performance as a boozy torch singer. DIR/PROD Jack Webb; SCR Richard L. Breen. U.S., 1955, color, 95 min. NOT RATED
