LEPERS & SEX a.k.a. SANTO VS. THE RIDERS OF TERROR
Special Features: New Restoration
In this newly restored entry in the long-running series of films featuring El Santo, masked luchador Santo comes to the aid of a town that is under attack by a violent mob of lepers who have teamed up with a criminal biker gang. El Santo (the ring name of professional wrestler and actor Rodolfo Guzmán Huerta) starred in over 50 low-budget Mexican productions akin to the B-movies of the U.S. His prolific onscreen appearances — battling Martians, vampires, zombies, mummies and kidnappers in the pursuit of justice — made El Santo a folk hero in Mexico. This specific entry is one of El Santo’s wildest and bawdiest outings; the complete version was thought lost until an original negative that retained the explicit sequences was discovered, allowing the Cinema Preservation Alliance and Permanencia Voluntaria to reconstruct the original film. DIR/SCR René Cardona; SCR Jesus Velzaquez Quintero; PROD Guillermo Calderón Stell, Santo “El Enmascarado de Plata.” Mexico, 1970, color, 78 min. In Spanish with English subtitles. NOT RATED
