BAJAÑÍ
Filmmaker Fernando Trueba partners with flamenco guitarist Niño Josele for this spiritual successor to CALLE 54 that captures the glittering sound of flamenco, jazz and Brazilian music. Primarily consisting of studio sessions, with brief connecting interludes, BAJAÑÍ features performances by Caetano Veloso, Ron Carter, Rubén Blades, Kenny Barron and Marisa Monte, accompanied by Niño Josele’s guitar — an instrument which, in the Caló language of the gitanos of Spain and ciganos of Portugal, is named bajañi. –Javier Chavez
