THAT SHADOW FADING [AQUELLA SOMBRA DESVANECÍA]
A funeral keyboardist, Sol, and her son, Junior, spend one last summer together in Piura, Peru. Junior is due to graduate from university soon and yearns to leave home for the big city of Lima. As mother and son go on long drives through the desert, they struggle to work through everything they have left unsaid, eventually coming to understand each other’s perspectives and needs. Soundtracked by cumbia music playing on the radio, THAT SHADOW FADING is a quiet snapshot of familial love, belonging and knowing when to let go of a place. –Bridget Sweeney
