NOVEMBER

[NOVIEMBRE]
November 6, 1985. The M-19 guerilla group takes the Colombian Palace of Justice by storm with the intent of holding the Supreme Court hostage. Filmmaker Tomás Corredor melds fact and fiction by turning this real-life tragedy into a pulse-pounding chamber piece, focusing the action on a cloistered bathroom within the palace where a group of hostages are being held. Natalia Reyes (BIRDS OF PASSAGE, IT WOULD BE NIGHT IN CARACAS) stars as Clara Helena, a conflicted guerilla who soon understands the gravity of her actions as the Colombian military starts to use deadly force to retake the building over the course of 27 long hours. In his feature debut, Corredor makes the most of his single location, using bristling sound design and devastating archival footage to craft a chilling thriller that mines unbiased truth to exhume a deep national tragedy. –Josh Gardner
