PAPAYA
Brazilian filmmaker Priscilla Kellen’s debut feature is a vibrant, colorful and whimsical tale of a curious papaya seed who longs to fly away from her fate of rooting into the ground and turning into a tree. Her escape from her mother tree takes her across the lush rainforest and towards the harsh world outside her home, where she meets diverse creatures who teach her about their ways — and herself. Told purely through its bold visuals, without any dialogue, this little seed’s journey to find her place in the world at large is a story of movement, transformation and carving your own path. —Bridget Sweeney
