Dr. Sherman Klump (Eddie Murphy) is a kind, “calorically challenged” genetics professor who longs to shed his 400-pound frame in order to win the heart of beautiful Carla Purty (Jada Pinkett). So, with one swig of his experimental weight-loss serum, Sherman becomes “Buddy Love,” a fast-talking, pumped-up, plumped-down Don Juan. Can Sherman stop his buff alter ego before it is too late, or will Buddy have the last laugh? Murphy saw a career resurgence in the ‘90s thanks to his all-star turn in this complete re-imagining of Jerry Lewis’ 1963 film of the same name. After the success of COMING TO AMERICA, Murphy reunited with special effects makeup guru Rick Baker to help him play almost every member of the rambunctious Klump family, culminating in a laugh-riot dinner table scene for the ages.
