WHEN NIGERIA HAPPENS
An official selection of the 2025 Locarno Film Festival and billed as “Nigeria’s first contemporary dance film,” WHEN NIGERIA HAPPENS is a raw, emotional and visually striking story of youth, resilience and the cost of chasing dreams in a city that never lets up. In a small, struggling commune deep in the heart of Lagos, misfit dancers Fagbo, Pokko, Lighter, Movement, Colos and Poppy are bound by friendship and passion, living for their art while defying societal expectations. Their tightly knit world is upended when Fagbo’s mother falls critically ill, sending him on a desperate search for funds. Caught between survival and ambition, love and responsibility, Fagbo and his fellow dancers must make choices that will forever change their lives. (Note adapted from Citygates Film Production.)
