MEMORY OF PRINCESS MUMBI
In 2093, filmmaker Kuve (Abraham Joseph) travels to Umata, a futuristic African country, to document the aftermath of a war that revived ancient kingdoms. There, he meets Princess Mumbi (Shandra Apondi), who challenges him to make his film without the use of artificial intelligence. As Kuve searches for his own voice, he begins to realize that even in a broken world, beauty can be found in the small human moments we often overlook. Kenyan-Swiss filmmaker Damien Hauser (AFTER THE LONG RAINS, BLIND LOVE) returns to the New African Film Festival with his latest self-produced indie, this time meshing Afro-futurist sci-fi with romantic comedy and mockumentary to create a breathtaking new vision all his own.
