Count Gore De Vol presents THE FLY (1986)

Join us for some creepy good fun when local TV legend Count Gore De Vol (Dick Dyszel) returns to present another cult favorite in the spirit of the original CREATURE FEATURE broadcasts, including vintage clips from the Count’s vault and interactive fun and games.

Starring Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis, director David Cronenberg’s 1986 remake of the 1958 cult classic about a young scientist who mutates into a fly is a masterclass in body horror, complete with iconically gruesome visuals that are unsettling, unflinching and unforgettable. Goldblum is exceptional as the misguided molecular physicist-turned-teleportation pioneer Seth Brundle in one of his most celebrated and beloved roles. But the real stars of the show are Chris Walas and Stephan Dupuis’ groundbreaking make-up effects, which transformed Goldblum into the unforgettable “Brundlefly;” two duo went on to win the Academy Award® for Best Makeup in 1987. Financed by AFI Life Achievement Award honoree Mel Brooks’ production company, Cronenberg’s macabre masterpiece was produced by AFI alum Stuart Cornfeld (AFI Class of 1975).
