LITTLE TROUBLE GIRLS
Special Features: 2026 Oscar® Selection, Slovenia
[KAJ TI JE DEKLICA]
Goaded by her religious mother, introverted teen Lucija (Jara Sofija Ostan) joins her Catholic school’s all-girls choir. She slowly acclimates to the workload while also navigating complex teenage social dynamics and her budding sexual yearnings, and she is soon taken under the wing of the seductive Ana-Marija (Mina Švajger). When the choir attends a weekend retreat of intensive rehearsals at a convent in Northern Italy undergoing renovations, Lucija notices a dark-eyed construction worker who elicits urges she cannot quite comprehend. Spurred by the mischievous Ana-Marija to spy on the workers as they skinny dip, Lucija wrestles with intense shame over her body’s natural desires, threatening the harmony of the choir. In her feature debut, Slovenian filmmaker Urška Djukić explores the conflict between female sexuality and religious repression through the tender and intimate tale of a young girl’s coming-of-age, anchored by a strong yet sensitive performance from Ostan and filled with alluring visuals. –Javier Chavez
