MAMÍFERA
While most of her friends are in the throes of young motherhood, 40-year-old art professor Lola (Maria Rodríguez Soto, LIBERTAD) remains steadfast in her desire not to have children. She's fully supported in her decision by her loving boyfriend, Bruno (Enric Auquer, THE TEACHER WHO PROMISED THE SEA). Discovering she's accidentally become pregnant, Lola heads to the doctor to get an abortion, but according to Spanish law, she must wait three days before finalizing her decision. As the hours unfurl, she starts questioning what she really wants or what society wants from her. As Bruno begins to waver in how he sees his own future, Lola will be forced to make some difficult choices. Filmmaker Liliana Torres (QUÉ HICIMOS MAL?) fills this warmhearted drama with moments of comedy and animated dream sequences in which Lola's art comes to life. Rodríguez Soto won a Special Jury Award at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival for her brilliantly nuanced performance. DIR/SCR Liliana Torres; PROD Miriam Porté, Carla Sospedra Salvadó.
