.DOG (2021)
Left to fend for himself, naive teenager Dimitris (Dimitris Kitsos) has managed to make the most of an unfortunate situation. With his father (Andreas Konstantinou, CLOUDY SUNDAY) behind bars, he's spent years living in an orphanage, creating a makeshift family with his friends and the support of the well-off couple who own the mechanic shop where he works. All his life he's longed for a real family, so when his father is released from prison, he can't wait to make up for lost time. But his father is not the loving figure Dimitris expected and has a hard time kicking old habits. He's constantly scheming and hopes to drag Dimitris into the "family business," putting the life Dimitris has built at risk. Cypriot filmmaker Yianna Americanou's thriller-tinged coming-of-age drama asks whether blood really is thicker than water.
