NIGHT NURSERY
Special Features: North American Premiere
[GARDERIE NOCTURNE]
In the town of Bobo-Dioulasso, near Burkina Faso's capital, sex workers entrust their children to Madame Coda, an elderly matriarch who has spent decades caring for such countless wards while their mothers take to the streets at night to work. Embedding himself within this unique set-up, filmmaker Moumouni Sanou explores the complex and intimate lives of these women with a "fly-on-the-wall" style that lets his subjects tell their own stories. At times amusing and at others harrowing, NIGHT NURSERY is a tender, sensitive and respectful observation of motherhood. Official Selection, 2021 Berlin Film Festival. DIR/SCR Moumouni Sanou; PROD Berni Goldblat. Burkina Faso/France/Germany, 2021, color, 67 min. In Dioula and French with English subtitles. NOT RATED
