A decade after the release of his acclaimed film LE QUATTRO VOLTE, Italian director Michelangelo Frammartino returns with a nearly wordless, mystical feature based on a true story. In 1961 Italy, a team of speleologists descend into what was then the third-deepest cave in the world. As they adventure below the surface of the earth, their passing is noticed by an old shepherd whose solitary life is interwoven with the group's subterranean journey. IL BUCO chronicles a visit through unknown depths of life and nature, telling in parallel the tales of two great voyages to the interior.
