LET IT BE LAW

Special Features: U.S. Premiere

[QUE SEA LEY]

Dozens of women waving green handkerchiefs walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in May for the world premiere of this powerful documentary directed by Juan Solanas (NORTHEAST, UPSIDE DOWN). Symbolic of Argentina's growing pro-choice movement, the color green appears throughout the film, as Solanas documents the impressive fight waged by women across the county in the run-up to a parliamentary vote on a bill to decriminalize abortion and provide it free of charge in national clinics. Combining searing personal testimonies with footage of mass mobilizations in support of the bill, LET IT BE LAW documents the determination of women working to secure the right to physical self-determination, revealing an urgent, vital and ongoing struggle. Official Selection, 2019 Cannes and San Sebastián film festivals. DIR/SCR/PROD Juan Solanas; PROD Victoria Solanas. Argentina/France/Uruguay, 2019, color, 86 min. In Spanish with English subtitles.
