After breaking in with Keystone Studios, Alice Howell headlined her own series of comedy shorts for various studios, including L-KO, Century, Reelcraft and Universal. Billed as the "Scream of the Screen" and "the Female Chaplin," Howell specialized in working-class character types and knockabout physical comedy. Her daughter Yvonne also performed in silent comedy shorts and later married director/cinematographer George Stevens. This program features new DCP restorations by Undercrank Productions of several rare comedy shorts from the Library of Congress:
