GOOD TIME
Before MARTY SUPREME and UNCUT GEMS had us falling off the edges of our seats over the antics of their chaotically charismatic antiheroes, Josh and Benny Safdie came at us with GOOD TIME, an adrenaline-charged window into a mind-bending night in the life of not-so-petty criminal Constantine “Connie” Nikas (Robert Pattinson). Desperate and shameless after a botched bank robbery lands his younger brother, Nick (Benny Safdie), in prison, Connie embarks on a twisted odyssey through New York City’s nocturnal underworld in a frantic bid to spring him from jail — and maybe make a few dollars along the way. As he races against the clock, Connie spirals into violence and mayhem, but his spirit seems uncrushable, and as his task becomes more Herculean with every wrong move, you cannot help but root for him to make it. Alongside 2019’s UNCUT GEMS, GOOD TIME prefigures the glorious manic energy and New York grit of Josh Safdie’s upcoming solo debut MARTY SUPREME, exploring the frenetic drive behind one character’s single-minded — sometimes delusional — pursuit of an increasingly elusive goal.
