Based on Nicholas Meyer's (STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN) 1974 novel, THE SEVEN-PER-CENT SOLUTION brings together psychoanalysis pioneer Sigmund Freud (Alan Arkin) and legendary sleuth Sherlock Holmes (Nicol Williamson) to solve a mystery in turn-of-the-century Vienna. Troubled by Holmes’ cocaine addiction and increasingly disturbing hallucinations, Dr. Watson (Robert Duvall) arranges for Freud to treat his friend in Vienna, where an unexpected kidnapping draws the unlikely pair into a new investigation. Laurence Olivier, Vanessa Redgrave, Joel Grey and Jeremy Kemp round out the star-studded ensemble cast. Meyer earned an Oscar® nomination for his screenplay, which crafts a tale that ventures beyond familiar Sherlockian conventions to offer a fresh, rollicking perspective on the literary icon.
