UNDER THE CHERRY MOON
Special Features: 40th Anniversary
Two gigolos from Miami, Christopher Tracy (Prince) and Tricky (Jerome Benton), ply their trade on the French Riviera, seducing wealthy women and scamming them for cash. The two set their sights on a bigger prize: Mary Sharon (Kristin Scott Thomas, in her feature film debut), set to inherit $50 million on her 21st birthday. But Christopher did not count on falling in love with his mark. An homage to the romantic farces and screwball comedies of classic Hollywood, with production design by Richard Sylbert (CHINATOWN) and black-and-white cinematography by Michael Ballhaus (GOODFELLAS), the ebullient UNDER THE CHERRY MOON is bawdy good fun. Outstanding numbers on the soundtrack include “Girls & Boys,” “Mountains” and “Kiss” (look for them on the “Parade” LP at your local “Wrecka Stow”). DIR Prince; SCR Becky Johnston; PROD Robert Cavallo, Steven Fargnoli, Joseph Ruffalo. U.S., 1986, b&w, 101 min. RATED PG-13
