WALLACE & GROMIT: THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT

Loveable duo Wallace and Gromit made their big-screen debut with this “vegetarian horror film” (as directors Nick Park and Steve Box cheekily call it) that features the voices of Peter Sallis, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes and Peter Kay. Wallace and Gromit’s latest business venture — a humane pest-control outfit called “Anti-Pesto” — is booming, but the enterprising duo are finding it hard to manage all the captive rabbits taking over West Wallaby Street. And now they have been tasked with tracking down the mysterious beast that has been decimating the town’s vegetable plots. With the fate of Lady Tottington’s (Carter) much-loved Giant Vegetable Competition hanging in the balance, can Wallace and Gromit save the day? The second-highest-grossing stop-motion film of all time (the first is fellow Aardman production CHICKEN RUN), CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT took a whopping five years to make from concept to premiere. Its 30-person animation team completed 10 seconds of animation per day — and at 85 minutes long (or 5,100 seconds)...well, you can do the math! Their tireless work was well worth it: In addition to its box-office success, the film garnered dozens of awards, including the Oscar® for Best Animated Feature. It is no surprise, considering it is a film full of inventive fun and endless charm. (Note adapted from Aardman Animation.)
