SATURN RETURN

Opening Night. Post-screening wine reception hosted by the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in Washington, DC

[SEGUNDO PREMIO]
On the cusp of absolute rock stardom, the members of '90s indie band Los Planetas are struggling to put together their third album in Granada. Longtime bassist May (Stéphanie Magnin) has traded in the band for university, leaving her boyfriend and the lead singer (Daniel Ibáñez) high and dry. The guitarist (Cristalino) is living out his rock-star fantasies, spiraling into drugs and alcohol. With the pressure mounting from their record label, they'll need to get it together if they want to achieve their dream of recording the album in New York. Loosely based on the real story of Los Planetas, acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Isaki Lacuesta (BETWEEN TWO WATERS, THE DOUBLE STEPS), along with co-director Pol Rodríguez, has crafted a rollicking, dreamy portrait of a band about to make their landmark album. Winner, Golden Biznaga for Best Spanish Film, Best Direct and Best Editing, 2024 Málaga Film Festival. DIR/SCR Isaki Lacuesta; DIR Pol Rodríguez; SCR Fernando Navarro; PROD Roberto Butragueño, Cristóbal García. Spain/France, 2024, color, 109 min. In Spanish with English subtitles. NOT RATED
