MADU
Special Features: Centerpiece Selection. Q&A with filmmaker Matt Ogens on March 24
In September 2020, a video of 11-year-old Anthony Madu dancing barefoot in the rain-soaked streets of Nigeria went viral. His burning passion, evident with every leap and pirouette, captured the hearts of millions across the world — and landed him a scholarship to the prestigious century-old Elmhurst Ballet School in the UK. Filmmakers Joel 'Kachi Benson and Matt Ogens chronicle Anthony's journey from Nigeria to the UK and capture intimate moments along the way: the loneliness of being away from his family, fear that the failing vision in his right eye may derail his burgeoning career and even a first crush. Featuring stunning visuals, MADU is an uplifting, sweet documentary about a talented boy gifted the chance to pursue his dreams. DIR Joel 'Kachi Benson, Matt Ogens.
