It turns out that creating short films featuring anthropomorphic cartoon characters clobbering and blowing each other up not only earns laughs, but also accolades. Warner Bros. Pictures received 15 nominations for the Academy Award® for Best Short Subject, Cartoons and won three times, for TWEETIE PIE (1947), SPEEDY GONZALEZ (1955) and BIRDS ANONYMOUS (1957).
