Count Gore De Vol presents FRIGHT NIGHT (1985)
Join us for some creepy good fun when local TV legend Count Gore De Vol (Dick Dyszel) returns to present another horror favorite in the spirit of the original CREATURE FEATURE broadcasts, including vintage clips from the Count's vault and some interactive fun and games. The 2011 remake of FRIGHT NIGHT failed to improve on the '80s original, one of the best horror-comedy combinations of its era, which found a rich vein of anxiety and fear to mine in the gap between extended adolescence and impending adulthood. Teenager Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale) suspects there's something sinister about new neighbor Jerry Dandrige (Chris Sarandon), and turns to washed-up TV horror host Peter Vincent (a terrific Roddy McDowall) for advice on confronting the undead. FRIGHT NIGHT was the directorial debut of screenwriter Tom Holland, who would later unleash Chucky into the world, directing and co-writing the original CHILD'S PLAY. DIR/SCR Tom Holland; PROD Herb Jaffe. U.S., 1985, color, 106 min. RATED R
