THE PATSY (1928) in 35mm
Special Features: Live musical accompaniment by Donald Sosin and Joanna Seaton
Good girl Patricia "Patsy" Harrington (Marion Davies) always rates second best to her vivacious older sister, Grace (Jane Winton), the favorite of their stern, social-climbing mother (Marie Dressler). But Patsy is smitten with Grace's latest beau, Tony (Orville Caldwell), and determined to make her move. The film is famous for a sequence where Davies shows off her mimicry skills, performing comedic impressions of screen divas Mae Murray, Lillian Gish and Pola Negri in this madcap romantic farce directed by King Vidor. DIR/PROD King Vidor; SCR Agnes Christine Johnston, from the play by Barry Conners; PROD Marion Davies, William Randolph Hearst. U.S., 1928, b&w, 77 min. Silent with English intertitles. NOT RATED
