WHAT WENT WRONG?
[¿QUÉ HICIMOS MAL?]
Writer and director Liliana Torres plays herself in this cleverly constructed autofiction in which she surveys her own love life. Lili has been in a stable relationship with her partner for two years. Everything seems to work between her and David, but there is an inexplicable sadness that lives inside her that prevents her from being happy. To preserve her current relationship, Lili decides to hit the road, stopping off in Mexico and Italy, with the intention of finding four of her ex-boyfriends and asking them all the same question: where did we go wrong? Juicy encounters ensue in a courageous — at times amusing — journey of self-knowledge, which also doubles as an insightful chronicle of a generation with a confused emotional upbringing and seemingly irresolvable dissatisfaction.
