Join the AFI Silver Theatre and Strathmore on Indigenous Peoples' Day for a powerful evening exploring the untold stories of the immigrant and indigenous peoples that helped build America’s Transcontinental Railroad. The program will feature two compelling episodes of PBS’s MY MUSIC WITH RHIANNON GIDDENS, followed by a conversation with filmmakers Deni and Will McIntyre, who will discuss their work in amplifying Indigenous voices and the often-overlooked stories of the diverse communities who built America’s railroads — including the Indigenous peoples whose lands were forever changed by westward expansion.

Season Two, Episode Six: PURA FÉ
Native American vocalist and lap steel guitarist Pura Fé, an Indigenous activist, singer-songwriter and storyteller with Tuscarora and Taíno heritage, shares her personal background and musical journey in an episode that features Silkroad Ensemble performances of “Swannanoa Tunnel” and “Mahk Jchi,” both featured in the American Railroad concert program.
