After her husband's brutal murder, Guatemalan activist Maria (Academy Award®–nominee Bérénice Bejo) leaves her infant son in the arms of her mother and flees to Mexico for her safety. Ten years later, she is living in refuge in Mexico City, still part of an active rebel cell.
