QUEEN CHRISTINA (1933) Watch Trailer

QUEEN CHRISTINA (1933)

Greta Garbo stars in one of her greatest roles, as the fiercely devoted 17th-century Swedish queen who was crowned at the age of six. In Rouben Mamoulian's film, Queen Christina has built her country into a formidable military power, threatening Russia and defeating the armies of the Vatican, defending her Protestant country against the Counter-Reformation – all while dressing as a man and vowing to live as a bachelor. To guarantee Sweden's peace and security, Christina has agreed to wed the King of Spain but loses her heart to the King's ambassador (John Gilbert), and she must choose between her duty to her country and the man she loves.
