ALL THE COLOURS OF THE WORLD ARE ...
ALL THE COLOURS OF THE WORLD ARE BETWEEN BLACK AND WHITE
In the astounding feature debut by Babatunde Apalowo, two young men who feel a powerful connection come up against Nigerian societal strictures. Bambino (Tope Tedela) is a delivery driver, settled into his solitary life and small apartment. His new friend Bawa (Riyo David) runs a betting shop and takes photographs around Lagos as a hobby. One beautiful afternoon, Bambino accompanies Bawa on one of his sojourns, and a deep, palpable bond emerges between the two men. Living in a country where homosexuality is illegal, they dance around their feelings and each other. With a clear vision, the film movingly demonstrates the difficulties of expressing a love in places where it remains taboo. (Note adapted from Frameline.) Teddy Award, 2023 Berlin Film Festival.
