FOR EVER MOZART
A film told in four parts, FOR EVER MOZART is Jean-Luc Godard's postmodern treatise on the Bosnian War. Veteran filmmaker Vicky Vitalis (Vicky Messica) is struggling to get his latest project off the ground. His daughter Camille (Madeleine Assas) and nephew Jérôme (Frédéric Pierrot) intend to stage Alfred de Musset's play "One Must Not Trifle With Love" in war-torn Sarajevo. Duty bound to accompany the foolhardy youths, Vicky boards the train to Bosnia but soon turns back, leaving Camille and Jérôme to experience the horrors of war, with tragic consequences. Haunted by what he's seen, Vicky attempts to finish his film, eventually finding himself at a youth orchestra performance of Mozart. Initially panned by critics at its release, FOR EVER MOZART has since been re-examined as a thoughtful reckoning of art, war, politics and even cinema itself.
