FAIR PLAY (2022)

Inspired by Eve Rodsky's New York Times best-selling book "Fair Play: A Game-Changing Solution for When You Have Too Much to Do (And More Life to Live)," this eye-opening documentary charts Rodsky's journey to change the unfair work dynamic in her own home and in society at large. By following three families on their own journeys to find balance at home, the film reveals how even the smallest fights around dirty dishes are actually linked to systemic issues affecting millions of families across the globe. Written, produced and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom (THE MASK YOU LIVE IN, MISS REPRESENTATION), FAIR PLAY also uses interviews with experts such as Melinda French Gates and the U.S. Representative from California's 45th district, Katie Porter, to illuminate how seemingly minor disparities in domestic responsibilities profoundly affect both individual families and society as a whole. (Note adapted from The Representation Project.) DIR/SCR/PROD Jennifer Siebel Newsom, from the book by Eve Rodsky; PROD Jessica Congdon, Gretchen Miller, Sonia Slutsky. U.S., 2022, color, 95 min.
