SO YOUNG, SO BAD

SO YOUNG, SO BAD

Paul Henreid (CASABLANCA; NOW, VOYAGER) stars in and bankrolled this independent "girls in prison" melodrama, after studios got cold feet due to the political leanings of soon-to-be-blacklisted filmmaker Bernard Vorhaus and screenwriter Jean Rouverol. Henreid plays Dr. John Jason, an idealistic therapist who arrives at Elmview Corrective School for Girls and soon discovers it's run more like a brutal prison than a place for education. Even with the best intentions, violence erupts at the school, and Jason and the students must fight for the truth to be revealed. As part of his producing duties, Henreid discovered and hired a cast of future stars including Anne Francis, Anne Jackson, Enid Rudd and Rita Moreno (credited as Rosita), in her first on-screen role. DIR/SCR Bernard Vorhaus; SCR Jean Rouverol; PROD Edward J. Danziger, Harry Lee Danziger. U.S., 1950, b&w, 91 min. In English and Spanish with English subtitles. NOT RATED
