The limited docuseries UPROOTED spotlights the 1986 unsolved hanging death of a 19-year-old Black man, Keith Warren, in Silver Spring, Maryland, and his sister Sherri Warren's 35-year fight to learn the truth about what happened to her brother.

Despite the suspicious circumstances surrounding Keith's death, it was never thoroughly investigated, and was hastily ruled a suicide. Fighting systemic injustice at every turn, Sherri Warren's end goal is to change Keith's death certificate to reflect the truth. Featuring interviews with Keith's friends and family as well as both active and retired law enforcement, forensic experts, eyewitnesses and private investigators, UPROOTED illuminates a compelling case deserving of renewed attention, with deeply resonant themes of racial injustice and police and media accountability.

UPROOTED is created by NowThis in partnership with discovery+ and Group Nine Studios, the studio arm of Group Nine Media. UPROOTED is directed by Avril Z. Speaks and executive produced by Matt McDonough alongside NowThis' Tina Exarhos.

The screening features part one of the three-part series, with all episodes available via discovery+ on February 18. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring director Avril Z. Speaks, executive producer Matt McDonough and subject Sherri Warren, with additional guests to be announced. This event is free and open to the public.
