SILENCE OF THE TIDES Watch Trailer

SILENCE OF THE TIDES

Filmmaker Pieter-Rim de Kroon explores the Wadden Sea, the largest tidal wetlands in the world. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, this unique ecosystem is located in the North Sea between the Frisian Islands and the coastline that stretches from the Netherlands across Germany to Denmark. Both a closely observed nature documentary and a poetic meditation on the natural rhythms that govern life on earth, de Kroon's film depicts the complex and fragile interrelationships between all creatures living in this environment, both in the sea and on the shore. With stunning widescreen cinematography by Dick Harrewijn, attuned to the ever-changing light and atmosphere of the sky and the natural clockwork of the sea's tides, the film inspires an awestruck appreciation of the natural order and mankind's role in it. DIR/SCR Pieter-Rim de Kroon; PROD Annemiek van der Hell. Netherlands, 2020, color, 102 min. No dialogue. NOT RATED
