CABIN, THE (2021)

[HYTTE]
How does one find oneself in a highly globalized society? For Luc, a divorced father preparing to have his young daughter move in with him, it means dropping everything for an impromptu vacation to the frigid archipelago of Svalbard in the North Pole. There he connects with two strangers: Mike, a fellow Luxembourger who claims he found peace at a nearby, isolated cabin, and Ingrid, a Norwegian schoolteacher on holiday. Filled with newfound affection for Ingrid and enchanted by the folkloric cabin, Luc misses his return flight and decides to start a new life on the island. Jean-Louise Schuller crafts a meditative film about masculinity, the quest for identity and the technological saturation of the 21st century, told over the course of nine months in the life of a man metaphorically adrift at sea. DIR/SCR Jean-Louise Schuller; SCR Jérémie Dubois; PROD Marion Guth, François le Gall. Luxembourg/Belgium, 2021, color, 76 min. In English and French with English subtitles. NOT RATED
