FOREST - I SEE YOU EVERYWHERE
Special Features: U.S. Premiere
[RENGETEG – MINDENHOL LÁTLAK]
Emotions run high in seven magnetic shorts from Hungarian auteur Bence Fliegauf, who returns to the perfervid terrain of his award-winning 2003 breakthrough FOREST. Each miniature finds Fliegauf exposing deep psychic pain, examining fraught relationships between parents and children and romantic partners with searing dialogue and a handheld camera. The standout opening segment follows a teenage girl (Lilla Kizlinger, in a performance that won her the Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance at the 2021 Berlin Film Festival) as she practices delivering a horrifying school presentation about the death of her mother to her emotionally abusive father. Drawing inspiration from the work of John Cassavetes, these realist dramas are claustrophobic, incendiary and revelatory. DIR/SCR/PROD Bence Fliegauf; PROD Ernő Mesterházy, Mónika Mécs. Hungary, 2021, color, 112 min. In Hungarian with English subtitles. NOT RATED
