CHILDREN OF DIVORCE (1927)

Silent with live musical accompaniment by Andrew Simpson

90th Anniversary
Screening in 35mm

Friends played by Clara Bow, Esther Ralston and Gary Cooper all grew up in well-to-do families riven by divorce, and now bear the scars in their adult lives. Cooper and Ralston plan to marry once he's established a business of his own. But after a night of drunken revelry, Cooper wakes up surprise-married to good-time-gal Bow, who, prevented from marrying her true love, a wealthy European prince, unapologetically seizes on Cooper. Several more sharp turns take place in this surprisingly un-soapy melodrama. DIR Frank Lloyd; SCR Hope Loring, Louis D. Lighton, from the novel by Owen Johnson; PROD Jesse L. Lasky, E. Lloyd Sheldon, Adolph Zukor. U.S., 1927, b&w, 70 min. NOT RATED
