LA SOLEDAD (2016)
"La Soledad" is the name of the villa, formerly opulent, now deteriorating, where longtime maid Rosina lives with her family. The film's melancholic appellation also sets the mood of this deliberately paced drama, as the villa's residents struggle to maintain normalcy after they discover that the house has been sold and is soon to be torn down. A poignant work of docu-fiction — shot on a real location (the director's own childhood home) and with real people portraying themselves — LA SOLEDAD offers the audience a firsthand experience of Venezuela's current social and economic situation. Audience Award, 2017 Miami Film Festival; Special Jury Award, 2017 Atlanta Film Festival; Official Selection, 2016 Venice Film Festival, 2017 Buenos Aires and Cartagena film festivals.
